Guitarist/Owner

I started playing guitar when I was 8, but didn't really take it seriously until I was 12. I played in bands starting in middle school and played mostly locally from the time I graduated high school until my late 20's. I am an avid guitar collector and "Guitar Shop Tourist". I taught myself to make guitars from my experiences of playing hundreds, literally hundreds, of guitars over the years.

I attended Augsburg College for business and Mcnally-Smith for analog recording engineering. I also worked briefly at Pachyderm studios (slept in the tape room). I started Owasso Guitar Co. in 2012. Prior to building guitars, I repaired and resold them for over ten years. In 2010, I hunkered down in a way I had not done since learning to play guitar all those years ago. They say the best way to learn how to build a  guitar, is to learn the same way you learned to play them. Boy, were they right!

Alex Born

Guitarist/Apprentice

Alex started playing guitar at 11 and later attended McNally Smith, where he became the first exchange student to study in Germany. Born and raised in North Minneapolis, Alex’s first memories of music involved a room full of Legos, alternative rock radio, and hip hop and neo-soul grooves floating from open windows.

He performs regularly with several bands, songwriters and worship teams. He's studied performance, theory, composition and arranging with a who's who of well-respected musicians and in 2014, he opened his own guitar teaching school: Rockwell School of Guitar.
